Community Education Series: Marijuana Madness!
This presentation is designed for everyone wanting to explore the pros and cons of current research, policies and shifting cultural norms around this substance. Participants will take a historical look at humanity’s relationship to cannabis bring us through to the present and the not so distant future. The course will also explore some of the myths and facts around this plant’s medicinal properties as well as negative health implications with use.
About the instructor:
Brian Serna, LPCC, LADAC has a BA in Psychology from New Mexico State University and an MA in Counseling from the University of New Mexico.
He is an international trainer and consultant in many topics including Evidence-Based Practices (EBPs), ethics and cultural issues in behavioral healthcare.
Mr. Serna has trained and consulted with programs in over twenty different states and five different countries. He is the director of the Addictions, Abuse and Recovery Certificate at Southwestern College in Santa Fe, NM. His company, Serna Solutions LLC provides training, consulting, and counseling services to adults, adolescents and families in Santa Fe, NM.
He is interested to serve NAADAC to promote the development of addiction professionals and advocate for addiction issues at the state and national levels. He enjoys creating classes that engage a diverse audience that not only educates but also entertains.
About the Bernalillo County Behavioral Health Initiative: The Training & Education grant, funded through the Bernalillo County Behavioral Health Initiative aims to increase access to quality training and support to individuals who serve and interact with our behavioral health community. Through this program, Serna Solutions will provide behavioral health classes at no cost. Any person who resides in or supports the individual(s) with behavioral health needs is welcome to participate.
